I recently teamed up with two great travel website developers, Pauline Kenny and Steve Cohen – owners of the Slow Europe travel website, to create an exciting and innovative online guide to the archaeological sites and museums of Europe. Together we have produced Archaeology Travel.
Archaeology Travel is a free guide to the archaeological sites and museums of Europe that are open to the public. Getting all these sites from Europe on to the site is going to be a big, long term undertaking, for now we are focussing on western Europe. So far France, England and Scotland are live and undergoing continuing development, but soon we will be adding Wales, Italy and Ireland and Northern Ireland.
For anyone looking for information and advice about visiting the archaeology sites and museums of France, this website is an indispensable and free travel tool. We have regional lists of sites and museums as well as the necessary information for your self guided archaeology tours of France, including the cave art of the Dordogne, or the Romans in Provence.
And for more general travel advice, have a Look at Pauline and Steve’s Slow Europe (link below). There you will find a wealth of reliable travel advice, from finding accommodation to hiring a car.
